Group Therapy Los Angeles
Takeaway: While pregnancy can be an exciting time in your life, it can also be nerve-wracking, overwhelming, and even isolating. Group therapy in Los Angeles can remind you that you’re not alone. Getting support from other moms-to-be can help you feel more empowered as you navigate this new stage of life.
Does this sound like you?
You're pregnant for the first time-maybe you're feeling the mama-to-be bliss, or maybe you're completely terrified. You're so excited to meet your little one, but you have no clue what to expect from the postpartum stage.
On the other hand, maybe you're in the postpartum stage right now. You love your baby and being a mom, but it's been hard to adjust to your new identity. Everything has changed-including your relationship with your partner-and it's a lot to handle.
If you resonate with these descriptions, my group therapy program may be a good fit for you. I created this dedicated space to help new moms get support in a group setting, with other people who are going through the exact same thing.

Meet Gayane Aramyan, LMFT
As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I help women like you navigate the postpartum period and all of the stressors it can bring. I see clients in person at my office in Sherman Oaks, and I also offer online therapy.
I graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology before earning my master's degree in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University. I've been trained in several different therapeutic approaches, and perinatal mental health is a special interest of mine-especially being a mom myself.
Whether you're prepping for postpartum or have already started to navigate it, my group counseling program in Los Angeles can help. I facilitate a support group for moms and moms-to-be just like you, who are all trying to find their way.
As a new mom myself, I'm passionate about supporting maternal mental health. I've seen firsthand how beneficial a group therapy program can be for those of us who are adjusting to our new identities as a mom and all of the other changes and adjustments that come along with pregnancy and postpartum.
In group therapy, I help facilitate the conversation. I may give prompts to help everyone ease into a discussion, and I'm there to make sure that all group members are included and supported.
Group counseling should be a safe environment where everyone feels welcome to be themselves, and I'm intentional about working with the group to set and maintain ground rules and boundaries that feel good for all members.
You shouldn't have to work through your personal struggles alone. Group therapy can give you support from other moms who experience similar issues, which can also help you gain a perspective on your own challenges.
Putting your mental wellness first as a mom can be tough, but you deserve a community where you can connect with other women in a powerful way. If you're interested in learning more about my therapy group, I encourage you to reach out.

FAQs about engaging in a group counseling program in Los Angeles
Many of my clients are totally new to group therapy, so having some questions is expected. Here, I've answered some of the most common questions I receive about my group therapy program. However, you can feel free to contact me if you have other specific questions.

Don't get me wrong, talking to your loved ones is a vital part of caring for your mental health. You should absolutely keep doing that! However, support groups have a different sort of benefit than talking to your friends.
Groups are also led by licensed therapists (in this case, that's me). I facilitate the conversation to make sure that each person's voice is heard, and I manage the group dynamics and relationships in a way that's different from an informal group conversation.
Also, many women feel isolated during this part of life, making it difficult to open up to their family and friends about how they're doing. Groups can help you forge new relationships with other women who really get it, and give you the support you need in an alternative (yet still totally effective) way if connecting with loved ones feels hard.

Each person's experience with group therapy is different. With that being said, there are tons of benefits that group counseling can give you. For example, research suggests that group therapy can help people with social skills, such as communication skills.
Some studies show that group therapy can also help improve self esteem, depression, and anxiety. Many new moms struggle with all three of these before and during the postpartum period, so engaging in a therapy group may be helpful.
